26-Year-Old Nigerian Man Fatally Stabbed in South-East London

A 26-year-old Nigerian man, Ayowale Aledejana, was stabbed to death on Saturday, August 2, in New Cross, south-east London.

According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called to Monson Road at around 7:26 PM after reports of a stabbing. Emergency services, including paramedics and London Air Ambulance, attended the scene, but Mr Aledejana—who lived in South Norwood, Croydon—was pronounced dead on arrival.

His family is being supported by specially trained officers.

The incident occurred near the former Duke of Albany pub, a location featured in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead. A forensics tent has been set up at the scene, and flowers have been left outside the terraced home in tribute.

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. Both remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Our thoughts are with Ayowale’s family and friends at this difficult time.
We understand this incident will cause concern, and we’re conducting a fast-moving and thorough investigation.
