60-Year-Old Nigerian Woman Stabbed to Death in East London

A 60-year-old Nigerian woman, Nkiru Chima, was found dead after being stabbed multiple times at her home in East London.

Ms Chima, who lived in Romford, was discovered at an address on Bushy Close around 7 PM on Saturday, 27 July. Emergency services arrived after concerns were raised for her welfare, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, 5 August, the Metropolitan Police formally identified her as the victim.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said police believe her death is linked to that of a 20-year-old man who died on the train tracks at Romford station the same evening.

“This man was known to Nkiru,” said Det Ch Insp Yorke. “British Transport Police are continuing their investigation into his death.”

She added, “Our thoughts are with Nkiru’s family at this incredibly difficult time. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from the community so far and continue to urge anyone with information about either death to come forward.”

Specialist officers are currently supporting Ms Chima’s family.
