Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah receives 2025 FWA Footballer of the Year award

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah was awarded the prestigious 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year award on Thursday night.

Salah’s remarkable performance throughout the 2024-25 season earned him the coveted men’s honor, securing an impressive 90% of the vote from the FWA’s esteemed 918 eligible members. This victory marks the largest winning margin in the history of the award.

Salah’s exceptional form was instrumental in Liverpool’s triumph as Premier League champions.

In all competitions, Salah has demonstrated his brilliance, contributing 33 goals and 23 assists to his team from a total of 51 appearances.

His Reds teammate Virgil van Dijk finished second in the FWA vote, ahead of Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).

“It means a lot to win this award, it’s incredible,” said Salah at the event.

“I always feel special winning this award, something from the writers is so special. And with that gap between you and the second, it’s just incredible.

“Winning the Premier League and having that impact on the team, I think I said before, I never felt that [much] happiness in the club, that moment where we won the Premier League against Spurs.“
