Vice President Kamala Harris Certifies Donald Trump’s Election Results (Video)

Vice President Kamala Harris officially certified President-elect Donald Trump as the winner of the November 5, 2024 election.

On January 6, 2025, Harris and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson presided over a joint session of Congress to officially certify the results of the 2024 Presidential election.

During the certification process, Harris made an awkward moment when she announced, “The votes for President of the United States are as follows: Donald J. Trump, representing the state of Florida, has received 312 votes.”

Before Harris could proceed to certify her own vote tally, Congress erupted in cheers. She then announced, “Kamala D. Harris, representing the state of California, has received 226 votes.”

Prior to the certification, there had been rumors circulating that Harris would not certify the election results. Some skeptics speculated that President Joe Biden would step down and allow Harris to become the first female president of the United States. However, many believed that Harris would not relinquish the presidency so easily.

On Monday, Harris reaffirmed her commitment to upholding one of the most fundamental pillars of democracy, which is the peaceful transfer of power.

U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi (Democrat from California) used a walker while attending the joint session of Congress to ratify the 2024 Presidential election at the U.S. Capitol.
