In a surprising turn of events, rapper A$AP Rocky has confirmed that Rihanna is his “wife” as his felony assault trial commences in Los Angeles this week.
The 36-year-old rapper is facing charges related to an incident that allegedly occurred in 2022, where he is accused of shooting and wounding his former friend, A$AP Relli. Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has consistently maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to the charges. In 2023, a judge ruled that Rocky would indeed stand trial in California.
On Wednesday, Judge Mark S. Arnold inquired with Rocky’s attorney about whether Rihanna should be referred to as his wife. Joe Tacopina responded by calling the global pop star Rocky’s “common-law wife,” suggesting that they are living together as a married couple without the formal legal documentation.
Tacopina suggested that the term “wife” would suffice, but Deputy District Attorney John Lewin argued that Rihanna should only be referred to as Rocky’s wife if they are legally married and have the necessary paperwork to prove it.
The judge agreed with Lewin’s argument, stating that if they are legally married in any jurisdiction, Rihanna will be considered Rocky’s wife. However, if they are not legally married anywhere, she will be referred to as his significant other.
MRihanna and Rocky, according to a source, are legally married in her native Barbados. The singer wants her children to have parents who are legally married in the eyes of the law.
In New York, where the couple resides part-time, a common-law marriage is recognized as legal.
They share two adorable sons, RZA, who is two years old, and Riot Rose, who was born in August 2023.
Rihanna is rumored to be pregnant again. I’ll inform you when her third pregnancy is officially confirmed.
