Former First Lady Michelle Obama displayed a united front with her husband, Barack Obama, amidst rumors of their impending divorce. These rumors gained traction after Barack attended Jimmy Carter’s funeral without Michelle, and he also appeared at Donald Trump’s Inauguration without his wife, who was at home in Hawaii.
Friends of the Obamas seemed to corroborate these rumors, suggesting that Barack is dating “Friends” actress Jennifer Aniston. In an October 2024 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Aniston dismissed the rumors, stating that she had only met Barack once and knew Michelle better.
However, insider Meghan McCain appeared to confirm the divorce rumors, alleging that Michelle and Barack lead separate lives. McCain mentioned on a recent podcast that she had been hearing these rumors from reputable journalists, excluding sources like TMZ and Perez Hilton.
Despite these rumors, Michelle and Barack showed a united front on Wednesday. Michelle posted a joint message on Instagram announcing that The Obama Presidential Center would honor Chicago teenager Hadiya Pendleton.
Hadiya, a 15-year-old, was tragically murdered in 2013, just days after she performed with her high school band at Barack’s second inauguration. Michelle revealed that she and Barack would open a memorial garden for Hadiya within the center’s Chicago location.
Michelle, on her Instagram story, wrote, “She had an extraordinary light that will never be forgotten,” and Barack and I are honored to create a dedicated space at the Obama Presidential Center to honor her memory.
Tragically, the honor roll student was shot in the back and killed while standing with friends in Harsh Park in Kenwood, Chicago, after completing her final exams.
In August 2018, two suspects, Micheail Ward, 18, and Kenneth Williams, 20, were found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to 84 years and 42 years in prison, respectively.
