Rapper Future’s Artist Young Scooter Dies After Running from Police in Atlanta

Aspiring rapper Young Scooter (real name Kenneth Edward Bailey) reportedly died from a leg injury after attempting to flee from police in Atlanta. Bailey, who was close friends with rapper Future Hendrix (left) and signed to his Freebandz label, was a rising star in the music world.

On Friday, Atlanta police responded to a weapon-related domestic dispute at a residence on William Nye Drive in southeast Atlanta. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and saw a woman being dragged into the home.

“When officers arrived, they knocked on the door, and a male opened it before quickly shutting it on the officers,” said Lt. Andrew Smith, commander of Atlanta’s homicide unit, during a late-night press conference.

Police set up a perimeter around the home, according to Fox 5 News. As officers surrounded the property, two men fled from the back of the house. One man returned inside, while the other, Bailey, jumped over two fences before being found injured nearby.

“He appeared to have suffered a leg injury,” Lt. Smith explained. “Officers provided aid, and he was transported to Grady Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.”

Friends of Bailey said the rapper severed a femoral artery in his leg while attempting to jump a fence and ultimately bled to death.

Bailey, a father of two, was best known for his 2013 mixtape Street Lottery. Lt. Smith clarified that Bailey’s injury did not result from gunfire from police. “Just to be clear, the injury sustained was not caused by the officers on the scene,” he stated.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called to review the case due to misinformation circulating on social media claiming that Bailey was killed by police.
