Cardi B Found Not Liable in Lawsuit Filed by Ex-Security Guard

A California jury has cleared Cardi B of liability in an assault lawsuit brought by her former security guard. The rapper will not have to pay damages, according to TMZ, and she has vowed to counter sue anyone who files frivolous lawsuits against her in the future.

The verdict comes in a $24 million civil case filed by Emani Ellis, who accused Cardi of assaulting her at a doctor’s office in 2018.

After court proceedings on Tuesday, Sept. 2, Cardi was confronted by a blogger who asked whether she anticipated “paternity issues” involving NFL player Stefon Diggs, following Offset’s claims that he fathered her unborn child.

Video obtained by TMZ shows Cardi throwing a marker at the man and responding, “That’s for disrespecting me. Don’t disrespect me!” She then accused him of being “disrespectful” and questioned why male reporters feel entitled to ask such personal questions:

“Do you see women asking me those type of questions? Why do you feel that as a man you can? Act like you have some manners and your mama taught you respect.”

The blogger was later barred from entering the courtroom for closing arguments.

Cardi B, who appeared visibly pregnant, wore a polka dot pantsuit with a matching blouse as she attended day six of her trial in Alhambra, California.
