Carlo Ancelotti to leave Real Madrid after Champions League defeat to Arsenal

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, will depart the club after the Copa Del Rey final on April 26. This decision follows Real Madrid’s exit from the Champions League to Arsenal.

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 home defeat and 5-1 aggregate loss to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday, Ancelotti expressed uncertainty about his future as Real’s head coach.

When asked if he could leave, Ancelotti stated that it could happen this year or next year when his contract expires. He emphasized that there are no issues with leaving.

However, Ancelotti expressed gratitude for his time at Real Madrid, regardless of the timing of his departure. He acknowledged that he may leave tomorrow, in a year, or even in 10 years, but he will always be grateful to the club.

Ancelotti reflected on Real Madrid’s successful seasons in recent years but acknowledged that this year has been challenging. He emphasized that sports are unpredictable, and no team is unbeatable.

Sky Sports has reported that Ancelotti will step down as Real Madrid’s manager after next Sunday’s Copa Del Rey final against their arch-rivals Barcelona. Barcelona currently leads the La Liga table by four points from their Clasico rivals, Real Madrid.

The final in Seville will be followed by La Liga matches at home against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday and away at Getafe next Wednesday.

Brazil is hopeful of appointing Ancelotti as their next manager. Negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days.
