D4vd case update: Death certificate confirms 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was not pregnant
Fresh details have surfaced in the case of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose dismembered remains were discovered earlier this month in the trunk of a Tesla registered to musician David Burke, known as D4vd.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Rivas’ death certificate confirmed she was not pregnant at the time of her death, nor had she been within the past year dispelling weeks of speculation online. The certificate listed her cause of death as “deferred,” pending toxicology tests and further investigation by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
LAPD officials said detectives cannot yet classify the case as a homicide until those results are complete.
Rivas’ body was found on September 8 inside an abandoned Tesla in the Hollywood Hills. Police believe the vehicle had been parked for weeks before being towed, suggesting she may have been dead for some time before the discovery.
Friends of Burke told TMZ they believed Rivas was his girlfriend and assumed she was in her late teens, with many thinking she was a 19-year-old USC student. In reality, she was just 15 and had reportedly met the singer when she was 12.
Law enforcement sources also noted Rivas had a history of running away from home and came from what was described as a troubled family background.
The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division said toxicology results will be critical to determining what happened. “We are examining every aspect of this case to uncover the truth and seek justice for Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family,” the division said in a statement.
