BET + has greenlit a spinoff for the 1990s sitcom, Martin. The series is titled Varnell Hill and will star Tommy Davidson who plays the title character who guest-starred on the original series.
The eight episode order will follow Hill behind the scenes on his program, The Varnell Hill Show. Martin Lawrence has not been confirmed to appear on the workplace comedy as of yet, but there are rumors he will.

After one season, Peacock has cancelled Mr. Throwback. The mocumentary show followed Danny Grossman, a struggling memorabilia dealer who reunites with his 6th grade team mate in order to turn his luck around. His team mate happens to be NBA all-star Steph Curry, who plays himself.

After two seasons, Peacock has cancelled Based on a True Story. The show focused on Ava and Nathan who made a true crime podcast by interviewing the serial killer behind some of LA’s most recent murders. Season two focused on the couple trying to go back to normal life and professions, but they find themselves entangled in another crime narrative.

Mayfair Witches has been renewed for a third season by AMC.
The thriller series is moving locations from New Orleans to Salem, Massachusetts for the new installment. Season three will continue to follow and explore Dr. Rowan Fielding’s heritage as she learns about her powers. Alexandra Daddario is confirmed to return as Fielding as her character travels up the East Coast.

Court TV has renewed Interview with a Killer for a second season. Hosted by David Scott, the series goes into high security prisons to interview their high profile inmates. Scott holds conversations with those convicted of murder to understand their motivations and mindsets that led to the crime.

The daytime drama The Bold and The Beautiful has been renewed for an additional three seasons by CBS. The show follows the powerful Forrester family who work in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, California. This renewal will take the series through its 41st season.

Fox has renewed the cooking show Master Chef for a 15th season. The reality competition shows takes in both amateur and professional chefs who compete for the ultimate Master Chef title as they are under the ruthless judgment of Gordon Ramsey, Aarón Sánchez, and Joe Bastianich.

Paramount+ has renewed Colin from Accounts for a third season. The romantic series follows Gordon and Ashley who are brought together by a dog named Colin. Each season continues their story as they continue to choose each other and also meet other characters going through their own stories. Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer write, executively produce and star in the series. They will return for season three, but plot details have not been released.

Ahead of its season two premiere, Max has renewed The Last of Us for a third season. The decision comes after season’s one high performance and an anticipated 40 million viewers for season two. The show, based off of the video game series, follows an apocalyptic America where society has fallen to a fungal disease that results in those infected becoming zombie-like creatures.

Hallmark has renewed The Chicken Sisters for a second season, and its already in production. The show follows a restaurant rivalry between two chicken shops in a small town that’s generations long. While the show recently premiered on the Hallmark channel, it released on Hallmark+ last year. Season two will follow the characters finally putting the feud to rest, but a conflict arises when a new chicken shop opens up on Main Street.

Almost Paradise has been cancelled after its second season. The show originally premiered on WGN before moving over to Amazon Freevee for season two. The decision comes after Amazon Freevee was scrapped from the company, but executive producer Dean Devlin is determined to find the drama a new home. The show follows Alex Walker, a D.E.A agent who is forced into early retirement after conflict with his partner and a battle with hypertension. This results in him traveling to a small island in the Philippines where he runs a resort gift shop.

Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for a 22nd season by ABC. The renewal makes the medical drama ABC’s longest running scripted television show, as it just turned 20 years old. The series will continue to follow Dr. Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, and the staff at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

9-1-1 has been renewed for its ninth season by ABC. This will be the show’s third season on ABC after it originally aired on FOX for its first six seasons before being cancelled and picked up by its new network. Season nine will continue to follow the lives of first-responders and star Angela Basset, Peter Kraus, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt and more.

The Rookie has been renewed for its eighth season on ABC. The show follows John Nolan who in season one was the oldest rookie LAPD had ever seen. He used his wisdom and skills to keep up with his police class that consisted of officer’s 20 years younger than him. Now, the character is no longer a rookie but continues to help new officers who enter the force. Season eight will continue to explore how John handles his age and challenges with the job.

Will Trent has been renewed for a fourth season by ABC. The show will continue to follow the Georgia Bureau of Investigations agent who wants to make a difference after growing up facing the hardships of the Atlanta foster care system. Season four will consist of 18 episodes.

Tim Allen’s newest comedy, Shifting Gears, has been renewed for a second season by ABC. The show follows widower Matt who owns a car restoration shop, and his life gets turned upside down when his estranged daughter and kids move in with him.

The Simpsons continue to be the longest running show in television history as FOX has renewed them for four new seasons. This renewal will carry the animated comedy through season 40 which will air in the 2028-2029 season.

Family Guy has been renewed by FOX for four additional seasons. The politically incorrect and comedic Griffin family will be securely on TV screens until the 2028-2029 season with their 27th season.

Bob’s Burgers has been renewed for four additional seasons by FOX. The series that follows restaurant owner Bob Belcher and his family is set to be on air until 2029. This renewal takes the animated comedy through its 19th season.

After moving to TBS in 2014, American Dad! will be returning to FOX for the 2025-2026 season. Additionally, FOX has renewed the animated comedy that follows Stan Smith and his family for four seasons, taking it to 2029.

The Handmaid’s Tale is officially getting a spin-off entitled The Testaments. Ann Dowd will reprise her role as Aunt Lydia and the series will take place years after the original series’ end and will focus around Agnes, also known as Hannah. Elisabeth Moss will help produce the series that will show a new generation of women inside Gilead.

Dexter: Original Sin has been renewed by Paramount+. The show prequels the show Dexter and follows the serial killer Dexter Morgan 15 years prior to the original series as he first learns the skills that make him a dangerous man. The show shows his relationship with his father Christian who teaches him how to select his victims and not get caught all while he starts an internship at the forensics department at Miami PD. Production is scheduled to start soon and pick up where season one left off.

The Wizards of Waverly Place reboot, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, has been renewed for a second season. The pilot was the most watched series premiere on Disney+ in the streaming platform’s history, and the series has gained millions of viewers. The show follows Justin Russo in his adult life when he must revisit his magical roots to become a wizarding mentor. David Henrie will continue to star and executively produce the series as it begins production next month.

America’s Most Wanted has been renewed for a 28th season by FOX and is set to premiere in April 2025. The current version of the show features the original host John Walsh and his son, Callahan, as they evaluate a variety of engrossing cases. Nothing is off limits from murders to drug overdoses to organized crime rings, and the father-son duo also consult industry experts on the criminals and victims.

CBS has renewed Watson for a second season. The series premiered in January, and the pilot was CBS’s most-watched scripted episode for the 2024-2025 series. The series follows Watson six months after Sherlock Holmes death, and he makes a career change from solving crime to solving medical mysteries. Season one is set to end in May, and production details for season two have yet to be released.

After Midnight after two seasons has been cancelled by CBS. The decision comes from the host Taylor Tomlinson deciding to leave the show, so she can resume pursuing stand-up comedy full time. The game show that tested comedians with a variety of pop culture games will end in June and as of now, it will not be replaced with another CBS original program.

Scooby-Doo is getting a modern revival on Netflix, with an eight episode live-action series. This new adaptation will showcase the origin story of how the mystery-solving friend group and talented dog first came together. Per the streamer, Shaggy and Daphne start the gang during their final summer camp together, and they befriend Velma and Freddy as they solve the case of a supernatural murder after encountering a lost Great Dane puppy. No cast has been revealed.

Max’s blockbuster international sensation from Poland will be back as the streamer has picked up Season 2 of The Eastern Gate, starring Lena Góra and Karol Pochec. The series described as “modern espionage game amid brewing international conflict and rising tensions” follows a Polish spy (Góra) who wants out of the game, but gets pulled back in when her partner is exposed by Russian operatives.

Severance has been renewed for a third season at Apple TV+ following the second season finale. Speaking with EW, creator-writer-executive producer Dan Erickson promised the show would “come sooner” than the 3-year break between the first two seasons — citing strikes for the delay. “Our goal is never to draw out people’s pain for three years. And I hope that we don’t have to do that again,” he added.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been renewed for Season 3 at Disney+ ahead of its second season premiere this December.

Apple TV+ has finally renewed Ted Lasso for a fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis reprising his role. While appearing on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Sudeikis confirmed the season is being written now, teasing, “Ted’s coaching a women’s team.” It’s unclear who else will return.

BET has renewed Tyler Perry’s Sistas for a ninth season that is set to premiere July 16th. The show follows a friend group as they go through different high and lows in their personal, professional and social life. Season nine will pick up from the season eight finale which will address Andi and Robin’s conflict, Sabrina’s love life, Danni’s lawsuit and Karen and Fatima’s relationship.

Netflix has renewed Beauty in Black for a second season. The Tyler Perry creation follows Kimmie who is struggling to remain afloat after her mother kicks her out and becomes involved in stripping. Her life crosses with the very successful Mallory, and their stories come together as Kimmie discovers the foundation of a sex trafficking ring and attempts to find her kidnapped sister.

Netflix has renewed The Perfect Couple for a second season. Originally a limited series, season two will also be based off of a Elin Hilderbrand novel, this one The Swan Song. The story will follow the Richardons who live a lavish life filled with parties and socializing. They purchase a summer home that mysteriously burns to the ground, and their most essential employee goes missing, causing a tense and suspenseful plot line.

Prime has cancelled Cruel Intentions after one season. The show, based off the 1999 movie, follows step-siblings Caroline Merteuil and Lucien Belmont who are on the top of a societal pyramid at their private college in the Washington D.C. area. They deceptively befriend the vice president’s daughter after a Greek life hazing scandal threatens their reputation. Reasons for the cancellation are unknown, but critics speculate it originates from season’s one hard path to release as it bounced from studio to studio.
