House Committee Subpoenas Bill and Hillary Clinton in Epstein Investigation

President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

The House Oversight Committee has issued subpoenas to former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several former top Justice Department officials in connection with its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced the subpoenas, which also target former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Bill Barr, Merrick Garland, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales, along with former FBI Directors James Comey and Robert Mueller.

Comer is demanding that the Justice Department hand over the “full, complete, unredacted Epstein Files” by August 19, 2025. This follows public outrage over the DOJ’s decision last month to close the Epstein investigation without charging additional individuals or releasing more information.

Clinton has been asked to appear for a deposition on October 14. In his letter, Comer cites Clinton’s own admission that he flew on Epstein’s private jet four times between 2002 and 2003. He also references Clinton’s ties to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, including a 2014 dinner the two allegedly attended—three years after Maxwell’s alleged involvement in Epstein’s abuse was reported.

Comer also points to conflicting reports about whether Clinton ever visited Epstein’s private island, which Clinton has denied. Donald Trump, who once had his own social ties to Epstein and Maxwell, has claimed Clinton visited the island 28 times, but has offered no evidence.

A 2019 statement from Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Urena, said the former president “knows nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein was charged with, and that his travel on Epstein’s plane was for Clinton Foundation work, accompanied by staff and Secret Service. The statement also said Clinton hadn’t spoken to Epstein in over a decade.
