Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock share more than a decades-long friendship both have endured frightening encounters with stalkers.

In Vanity Fair’s September cover story, Aniston admitted she’d rather not dwell on the subject. “People are out of their minds,” she said, before adding, “Who wants to put that energy out there?”

Aniston is currently under police and private 24/7 security after a 48-year-old man from Mississippi allegedly rammed his car into her gate in May 2025. TMZ reports he had been sending her repeated emails, voicemails, and social media messages. “It’s not glamorous in any way,” Aniston said. “It’s a necessity.”

Bullock, who survived a chilling break-in at her home in 2014, knows the feeling well. “It makes me think, ‘Do I really have to go outside and navigate the world?’” she told the magazine. “It’s ongoing. It’s not a one-off… your home unfortunately becomes your fortress.”

The friends now encourage each other to get out, even when fear lingers. “Okay, we need to go somewhere. Where are we going?” Bullock said. Aniston joked she’s trying not to “Howard Hughes” herself a reference to the reclusive billionaire who spent years in isolation.

Bullock’s 2014 incident remains one of Hollywood’s most disturbing stalking cases. She called police after spotting a man in dark clothes near her bedroom. She locked the door and dialed 911. Police arrested Joshua Corbett, who reportedly shouted, “Sandy, I’m sorry, please don’t press charges.” He later pled no contest to felony stalking and burglary, and years afterward, died by suicide.

The full interview appears in Vanity Fair’s September issue, on newsstands August 19.
