In Kabokweni, near White River in Mpumalanga, South Africa, a 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his elder sister. The body of the 44-year-old sister was reportedly buried in a shallow grave at the suspect’s home nearly a year ago.
On Tuesday, June 3, the suspect was taken into custody after allegedly confessing to killing his sister following a violent altercation on May 29, 2024. According to Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the man told authorities that an argument between him and his sister turned physical, resulting in her death.
Mdhluli stated that the suspect allegedly fatally assaulted his sister and buried her body in a shallow grave in the yard. He also revealed that the suspect had kept this incident to himself and only recently disclosed the information to others, leading to the police’s involvement.
While the woman’s body has not yet been exhumed, Mdhluli confirmed that the appropriate stakeholders have been alerted. He stated that police forensic services and the K9 unit have been notified, and the necessary processes will be followed.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is expected to appear in court once formal charges are filed.
