Bridgerton star Simone Ashley is stepping into the world of high fashion as she joins the star-studded cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The highly anticipated sequel welcomes back original stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, with new additions including Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, and now, Ashley.
Best known for her breakout role as Kate Sharma in Netflix’s Bridgerton, as well as appearances in The Little Mermaid and Sex Education, Ashley confirmed the news with a subtle post on Instagram, sharing a red high heel emoji—a stylish nod to her fashionable new role.
Set nearly two decades after the original 2006 hit, The Devil Wears Prada 2 will revisit the iconic Miranda Priestly (Streep), now grappling with the challenges of a collapsing print media industry. Meanwhile, her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt) has become a powerful executive at a luxury advertising firm. When their professional paths collide once more, the stakes are higher than ever—reputation, influence, and survival in a cutthroat media world.
David Frankel returns as director, with original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna penning the script once again. Producers Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt are also back, ensuring the sequel remains true to the tone and style that made the original a cultural phenomenon.
Filming officially began on June 30, and the film is slated for release on May 1, 2026. While the wait is long, Simone Ashley’s addition brings fresh energy and excitement to what promises to be a sharp, stylish sequel worthy of the original.
