A statue of a chubby black woman in Times Square, New York City, has caused such outrage that the artist has decided to remove it in mid-June. This statue is part of a series called “Grounded in the Stars” by British artist Thomas J. Price.
The 12-foot statue depicts an obese black woman wearing a T-shirt and pants. She stands with her hands on her hips, gazing down Broadway.
The statue was originally intended to be displayed in Times Square over the summer. However, due to the numerous complaints, it will be removed in mid-June.
