Singer and actress Teyana Taylor has been ordered to pay her ex-husband, former NBA player Iman Shumpert, $70,000 after a judge found her in contempt of court during their ongoing divorce battle.
The July 25 hearing centered on claims from both sides over who violated the terms of their 2024 divorce judgment. According to Us Weekly, the judge ruled that Taylor breached the agreement which barred either party from publicly discussing the judgment when she posted an Instagram video about the divorce in March.
Taylor also refused to answer questions from Shumpert about her assets and income, calling the inquiries irrelevant. The court sided with Shumpert, ordering Taylor to cover his legal fees and denying her request that he pay hers.
However, the judge rejected Shumpert’s claim that Taylor had violated their parenting plan.
Taylor filed for divorce in January 2023, accusing Shumpert of jealousy, emotional abuse, and narcissistic behavior. Shumpert denied the allegations and asked the court to change the grounds for divorce to “irretrievable broken bond.”
The couple married in 2016 and share two daughters, Iman “Junie” Tayla Jr., 9, and Rue Rose, 4.
