Wayne Rooney has issued a blunt warning to Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, insisting the club must start producing results immediately to avoid another disastrous season.
United spent nearly £200 million on new signings over the summer, but have managed just one point from their opening two Premier League matches. The poor start has already sparked frustration among supporters, particularly after last season’s nightmare campaign, which saw the Red Devils slump to 15th — their lowest-ever Premier League finish.
“There’s no excuses now for the manager this season. He’s got to start getting results and getting them quickly,” Rooney told The Wayne Rooney Show on BBC.
“Once you start getting into October or November, if results don’t change drastically, that’s when the pressure comes. They needed to hit the ground running this season and one point from six is a bit of a worry.”
The club’s big-money reinforcements signaled the board’s intent to rebuild under Amorim, but Rooney stressed that patience will run thin unless performances improve fast.
