NBA star Marcus Morris Sr. arrested on fraud charge
Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year NBA veteran, was arrested Sunday in Florida on a fraud charge, according to Broward County booking records.
The 34-year-old power forward was taken into custody in Broward County, with authorities later releasing a mug shot showing him with a neutral expression.
Morris, who played college basketball at the University of Kansas, was selected 14th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. He went on to play for several teams, including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
He last played during the 2023–2024 NBA season, splitting time between Cleveland and Philadelphia. Over the course of 832 career games, Morris averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds.
This isn’t his first run-in with the law. In 2012, Morris entered a diversion program related to a battery charge. He was also acquitted of assault in a separate case stemming from a 2015 incident.
Details surrounding the current fraud charge have not been released. Authorities have yet to comment on the circumstances or potential court proceedings.
