Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested in Texas on Wednesday, June 4, as reported by TMZ Sports.
According to the Collin County jail log, the 36-year-old ex-NFL player was apprehended at approximately 2:29 p.m. and booked on a charge of “assault causing bodily injury to a family member.”
A jail official confirmed that Hardy is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday morning. During this court appearance, a bond determination will be made. Until then, he will remain in custody.
The details surrounding the latest assault allegation have not been disclosed to the public yet.
This incident is not Hardy’s first legal trouble. In 2014, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, which garnered significant media attention and resulted in his suspension from the NFL. Two years later, in 2016, he was arrested and incarcerated on a cocaine possession charge.
Hardy played in the NFL from 2010 to 2015, spending time with both the Carolina Panthers and the Dallas Cowboys. After retiring from professional football, he transitioned into mixed martial arts, participating in several UFC bouts.
As of now, authorities have not released any further information regarding the current case.
