Mingus Reedus, the 25-year-old son of Walking Dead star Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, was spotted outside his New York City apartment on Sunday, August 24 — just a day after his arrest for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. When approached by reporters, Mingus asked, “You want to watch me kill myself?”
The model was dressed in the same green shorts and black T-shirt he had worn to court the previous day, carrying his cat in a bag as he walked near his home. On Saturday, August 23, while leaving Manhattan Criminal Court, he also called a reporter “ugly.”
According to police, Mingus punched his 33-year-old girlfriend in the leg, choked her, and slammed her to the ground during a dispute at their Manhattan apartment. He now faces multiple charges, including:
- Criminal obstruction of breathing
- Third-degree assault
- Reckless physical injury
- Aggravated harassment
- Second-degree harassment
He has pleaded not guilty.
Mingus’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, pushed back against the allegations, claiming the couple’s relationship ended about five months ago. She said the woman later attempted suicide by taking sleeping pills, and added: “The victim has since moved out of their shared home, is not afraid of Mingus, and has no interest in proceeding with the case or pressing charges.”
The court has issued an order requiring Mingus to stay away from the alleged victim.
Mingus has worked as a professional model since 2017. He is the only child of Reedus and Christensen, who separated in 2003 but have remained on good terms. Norman Reedus is now engaged to actress Diane Kruger, with whom he shares a young daughter, Nova Tennessee.
