Spider-Man Tom Holland filming in streets of Glasgow

Tom Holland has been spotted meeting fans in Glasgow while filming the latest Spider-Man instalment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Filming began in the city on Friday, marking Holland’s second consecutive project in Scotland. Just last month, he was seen shooting scenes for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in Inverness and Moray.

Glasgow’s city centre has been transformed to resemble an American city, with streets closed off and large areas cordoned for the two-week shoot. On Sunday, Holland was filmed performing an action sequence in full costume before greeting a crowd of around 100 fans.

The production is part of a growing list of Hollywood blockbusters using Glasgow as a stand-in for major U.S. cities. The city has previously doubled as New York and Gotham in films like Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Flash, and The Batman.

Actor Glen Powell also recently filmed both a remake of The Running Man and JJ Abrams’ Ghostwriter in Glasgow.

City officials have warned of temporary disruptions in the area during the shoot, but the buzz around Holland’s appearance has added to Glasgow’s rising profile as a filming hub.
