Trump claims UK and Europe ‘going to hell’ in extraordinary UN rant

Donald Trump delivered a fiery address at the United Nations in New York on Tuesday, declaring that Britain and Europe are “going to hell” because of immigration and dismissing climate change as “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.”

In a wide-ranging tirade, the former US president claimed Western nations were being “taken over by illegal aliens” and warned that “immigration and suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe.”

Just days after a state banquet with the King and Queen at Windsor Castle, Trump attacked London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, as a “terrible, terrible mayor” and falsely alleged that the capital was moving toward Islamic sharia law.

Trump’s hour-long speech hit on many of his usual grievances, drawing groans and awkward laughter from delegates. He accused the UN of “funding an assault on Western countries and their borders” through support for immigration and denounced green energy projects as economic sabotage.

“I’m telling you, if you don’t get away from the green energy scam, your country is going to fail,” he said. “If you don’t stop people you’ve never seen before and have nothing in common with, your country is going to fail.”

The remarks threatened to overshadow the goodwill from his recent UK visit, where he and First Lady Melania Trump were treated to a royal carriage ride and lavish banquet.

“Europe is in serious trouble,” he told the assembly. “They have been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody’s ever seen before. Both immigration and their suicidal energy ideas will be the death of Western Europe if something isn’t done immediately. This cannot be sustained.”
