Trump Open to Pardoning Sean Combs if Convicted in Sex Trafficking Case
Former President Donald Trump has stated he would consider pardoning Sean “Diddy” Combs if the rapper is convicted in his ongoing sex trafficking trial. Combs, the embattled music mogul, was arrested in September on multiple felony charges, including human trafficking, racketeering, forced labor, kidnapping, and conspiracy.
Despite the allegations, Combs has maintained his innocence and rejected a plea deal that could have spared him a potential life sentence.
When asked about a potential pardon, Trump said he would evaluate the case carefully before making a decision.
*”First of all, I’d look at what’s happening. I haven’t been following it too closely,”* Trump said, referencing the trial. He added that he hasn’t spoken to Combs *”in years.”*
Trump acknowledged that Combs had made *”nasty statements”* about him while supporting Democratic campaigns. However, he insisted that personal disagreements would not influence his judgment.
*”[Combs] used to like me a lot, but when I ran for politics, that relationship fell apart, from what I’ve read,”* Trump remarked. *”But whether someone likes me or not wouldn’t affect my decision. If I believe someone was treated unfairly, I’d consider it.”*
This week, Trump granted clemency to several high-profile figures, including reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, former Chicago gang leader Larry Hoover Sr., and rapper NBA YoungBoy. He has also issued pardons for multiple January 6 defendants, continuing his pattern of controversial clemency decisions.
The possibility of a Combs pardon has sparked debate, given the severity of the charges. Legal experts suggest Trump may be signaling a willingness to intervene in high-profile cases, regardless of political affiliations.
Combs’ trial is ongoing, and a conviction could test Trump’s stance on presidential pardons.
